Curaçao Seaquarium *

Swim with the dolphins, for real
The Seaquarium has more than 400 species of animals. Book your dolphin encounter in advance in order to bypass the basic open-water snorkel. The dolphins are dainty and have a lot to say. Their show is worth catching but it's not the same as swimming beside them.

My experience with the Dolphin Academy at the Curacao Seaquarium was truly amazing. We arrived 1/2 hour late (the road maps and signs on Curacao are incomprehensible), but the staff still managed to accommodate us and we had a great time. We did the Dolphin Swim, in which we got to actually swim in the ocean with 2 dolphins in a group of 6, with a trainer who helped us give the animals commands and gave us tips on interacting with them. The staff was helpful and the trainer was amazing, speaking 3 different languages to our group and guiding the dolphins at the same time. It's expensive, and they get you at the end with even more costs for videos, pictures, and merchandizing, but this is one experience I'm so glad I shelled out the dough for.
